red won't be too bad, but yellow will if that is the issue
Went to the store earlier, of the things I looked at to get today the only things that had red dye #40 in it were the sodas I usually get the boys and the easy tea mix... (yeah I know... soads... I shouldn't be doing that anyway....but it is rare that we get any "real" sugar...) but it seems like there will be a lot given up if it were to turn out that yellow is the problem. No more boxed Mac and Cheese...yeah I know made with real cheese would be better for us anyway :)... no boxed cheesey anything actually. so I guess maybe it won't be too bad... just hope that I can do this on a small budget.
to go dye free or not to that is the question
Ok, I am going to start by saying that I am not one of those hippy dippy people into organic food, against immunizations(NOT that there is anything wrong with that everyone has a right to their own opinions... that's just not me). I am currently a stay at home mom of three boys. I have anger issues, and my older two boys are very high strung (oldest has ADHD, and Asperger's, middle hasn't been diagnosed with anything (YET))... I read an artical today about red dye #40 and started wondering if that might be our problem... So I desided that I am going to pay more attention to what I buy from now on and try to avoid red dye #40 and see if that helps.
So I started looking at a couple of things that have it in it right off the bat... going to be rough to start with, but hopefully attitudes will start getting better once we have no more in the house.
I think I will talk to the boys pediatrition and see if an allergy test would help figuar out if they have any of these dye allergies, or even food allergies that might be contributing to these emotional problems... That way I will know weather or not we need to do an elimination diet at all, and what we need to eliminate... and we won't disrupt our diet too much :)
So I am going to chronical the changes we make, and if they seem to have any affect on our mental problems :)
